Skribex

Fiction writing, world-building, invisible version control

An opinionated, AI-fenced writing tool. v0.8.11

This is a side project born from frustration. None of the existing authoring tools worked right for me and the people close to me who write. Skribex doesn't do everything — it tries to stay minimal — but it gives you structure, world-building, invisible version control, and a research assistant that's deliberately walled off from your manuscript.

It leans toward fiction, though you can bend it via settings. If you care about knowing who your characters are, where your story happens, and what changed since last Tuesday, you might find this useful.

Entity system

Type @ in the editor to mention a character, place, object, event, or concept. Skribex color-codes them and tracks relationships automatically. Click any mention to inspect the entity.

Temporal markers

Type ~ to place a time marker — absolute dates, relative ("two days later"), or named events. These anchor your story in a timeline visible on the mindmap.

Mindmap

The mindmap shows your story world as a graph: characters, locations, and their relationships. It builds itself as you write — no manual diagram work needed.
